Using this avatar, I get accused daily of being a "NOOB". This is despite me actually NOT being a noob.
There of course a philosophical teaching in all of this.
A few examples:
1: The guy who gets himself killed, blames the NOOB templar. That is me.
2: "When I hold a seeker, DON'T HIT HIM, the hold will cool him off!" To the templar who got himself killed.
"Don't teach me noob!"
3: A fellow UA member told me today to stfu and lay off the caps, this has never happened before. I mean never, no one has ever commented negatively on me having a perversly insane mind.
WHAT DOES THIS TEACH US?
People are shallow. They look at the great UA tag and says "Ooooh, this guy shits gold and farts perfume!", while the person, apparently NEW mastering the GAME as if he's played for AGES is called a "Noob" and is generally trashed. I mean, I'm really fucking good, and if this is the kind of crap any new guy takes, AND HE MIGHT REALLY BE BAAD (and noob) it is of no wonder that this game never grew.

BS. Today I saw a fellow UA member decend from the UA Celestial Palace demeanding "You Shallt Refrain From Using Caps!!!" (I am cool, and from UA, therefor I can demand this). AND THIS ISN'T ONLY HIM(I have only love for this guy). I've done it myself. Most likely all have, but it's interesting to see how we act different towards those we presume we CAN act shitty against.
Why? My Value is higher. My standing in the community is higher. I can tell the guy with lower value what to do(does this resemble other real life situations??!). I can EVEN tell the guy WHO IS BETTER THAN ME, and who TRIES TO HELP ME OUT, that he SUCKS, because my VAULE is higher than HIS.
One of the morals I try to live by today is written below my avatar. This says "You are not your fuckin khakis". This applies here.

Fuck swiss, you know I love you man, this isn't about you. And Swiss didn't say "SHUT THE FUCK UP" or for that part "AAAaaah, I am the mighty UA, I demand SILENCE!!!!" or anything like that. (Actually, that last one sounds more like me). This isn't about swiss. But what is COOL, is that Swiss, is a NICE GUY, and he's SKILLED, motivated, and in every aspect a nice fellow, but as I was demanding:
"ATTACK THIIER FUCIN TEMPLAR!"
I simply got back:
"Don't use caps"
"COME OOOON GUYS!!!"
"Don't use caps"
(noob, be quiet...?)
And I want you to feel good about this, because it's such a nice example, just BECAUSE you're such a good guy. But IF you would want to judge a person, you should look at how he treats people below him, compared to above him, but then again I'm not into judging people at all. Love.
EDIT: And I forbid anyone to feel bad about this. "Oh no! I'm in trouble now, I yelled at the Great Sparrisen by mistake!". Fuck it. That's just more of the same kind of bullshit.

I know this is not the point of your posting, but still...
In that situation, I can imagine myself saying the same thing ("don't use caps"), no matter who the person using caps is. "Shouting" is annoying and shows disrespect towards your fellow players.
Also, I might refrain from commenting if the person using caps was someone who I've known for long time, if I knew the person in question wouldn't normally use caps.
So it's not only a status question. We use stereotypes to classify people we don't know, and unfortunately there are way too many new players who fit the "shouting newbie" stereotype. So it is only natural that people apply that stereotype when someone they don't know uses caps like that.

Please tell me what "use caps" means... I don't recognise the expression? (Yes, I am serious.) I guess caps is captures, but in this context...?
I guess we all from time to time have played incognito, and you sure do get treated differently. But mostly, people are trying to help me out, which is positive criticism for the community (but perhaps says something of my own skill as a player...).
