Hi, all DS friends and others!
I think all players should consider that the servers are hosted by other players in the community. That means that they are doing it to keep this game alive and kicking. They are doing it with their own bandwidth and their own hardware, which most often isn't the very best. But I think it is better to host a server which is laggy than no server at all. No servers, no game. Consider that for a minute.
So, in the future, when you enter a server and find it laggy, go to another server if there is one. If no other server is available, or if the other servers are just as laggy, I think you should set up your own server, or be content with that at least there are open servers. It isn't that hard to set one up - I am old enough to be most players dad and no computer wizard, and I could set one up. Complaining about laggy servers serves no one. The ones hosting them get tired of hearing things like "I hate this laggy server", and results in less willingness to host them. A small "Thanks for hosting" on the other hand can make wonders. So please think twice before complaining.

Well I think it's ok to mention if the server is laggy for you. Perhaps the hoster can even do something for it? But sure constant whining and stuff like "I hate this server" help no one.

Yea, for instance, BRUMMYS server has always been fine for me. Until two weeks ago. And then I whine, like "Is it laggy for you guys too?" And then it takes me 5 minutes before I see my little message.

Naturally it is ok to ask if the server is laggy for the other players on it as well. That is not complaining. It is a check to see if the problem might be on the client side. It is the constant whining that makes me upset. @Hullu: Yeah, I can understand that your mother thinks you are "special"...  |

Sorry Pimp, I always complain about lag, but only to explain my sub-par performance. I REALLY appreciate and want to thank the guys that offer servers.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who is facing lag will tell it.. But the most clever persons (the guys who has always played, almost all of them) doesn't mean anything negative with that, they just want to make sure everyone knows that their current suckiness is caused by lag We truly appriciate the servers which are mostly held by Pimp:) |

 Today I shut down my server due to someone (no names) who said that it was "below average performance", although he said in other words which shouldn't be repeated any forum. I said "Ok, I'll shut it down then...". I try to run my server as much as I can, and as much as I can stand the complaints running it. As I have stated before I think that one reason that we see so few servers is that people complain about them. It is not fun running a server then.  BUT I also had another one saying that he appreciated the server, which made me very happy earlier today. So I might set it up again tomorrow.
