Em hello, I tried hosting a server recently... And i've got the port 3170 UCP and TCP in my firewall set up.

I've registered the server. I go to host... it all runs smoothly.

But for some reason whenever i try to join, it just says "failed to connect" over and over.

Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong and how to fix it please?  Undecided

My problem hosting is that I can start and join my own server but no one else would seem to be able to. I also can't join servers like Q's server while most can. It's a puzzle. Huh

Thanks, but i know just cant host... because for some reason when i activated server.... it appeared for a minute or two... the disappeared off the list.

I looked in the "host" tab, and it still said it was active  Undecided.    The very strange thing is that when i went to stop the server - as it wasnt working, and error message popped up (which i couldnt see due to full screen mode) and then my computer froze  Undecided

your uplink might get over loaded and kill the server inorder to work. So you seem to have low uplink thats it.. and btw, open http port 3170 also

I think there is something wrong with the master server. I can host one game, then I get an error message about the master server, and I must restart the server. I've never had those problems before. The home page also loads sooooooooooo slowly.

Had a few problems with joining your server a couple of days ago. Would kick me after a few seconds and bar me till I restarted. I also had to uninstall the original patched version as that was failing to find the master server, Roughly about same time as I had problems with your reliable server. Home page loads instantly for me on all machines though.

If you set up a server and can't log in to it yourself, but others can, you can change your "Client port" in the settings.xml file to 3169. That might help (it did for me). / Pimp

That settles it. Most likely your router simply doesn't allow the port you have put in.

Try to change the port to 8 which is a local access port from My page -> yourserver. from there is the port number, change it. And try again. You can also search google for guides how to change port settings with your firewall, router and such. Also you can search for default windows ports, but I'm pretty sure 8 is one of them.
