I haven't dreamt a nightmare for like, forever. I remember one where my father shot me, and I was kinda looking around at the world as you do when you die in like quake or the old doom. Like blood filled me "screen", from above. (I guess I played doom at the time.)
When I was a kid, I dreamt that a lion tried to eat me up, which made me pee myself. (I still remember the feeling of having peed myself).
I also remember once where I had such an awful nightmare that I woke up with me heart racing, like -babababababababa- it was redicoulos. I thought I was going to die in a heart attack, and you know, got really scared of this, and when I got scared, my heart started to race again. And then I got REALLY scared, and then my heart started to race AGAIN. Ended up with me invading my parent's room wanting to get an ambulance. Fortunately my Da, had experienced similair things as a kid, and sometimes apparently still do, so he calmed me down quite easily. After this occasion, I could like, work myself up, and I was really scared of getting my heart racing like this, because, well it was scary, which of course made everything even worse. Went to the shrink for a few weeks to get it handled, but once I figured it was all in my mind it was OK.
EDIT: Nowadays, on the rare occasion that I HAVE a nightmare, I usually manage to wake up. And since I kinda FORCE myself to wake up, my BODY is not awake. Even though I am. I cannot move. I cannot make a sound. My body is like paralyzed. And if I make an ENOURMOUS effort, like MONOMENTAL, it's like running a friggin marathon or something, I can make a slight gurgle, or maby move a finger a fraction, which in turn wakes my body up. However, afterwards, I still feel pretty fucked up in my head, and I generally need to go down for a glass of water to shake off the experience.
