As the title says I'm wondering how to make any changes I've done in the prelude.pkg file work, I looked around and tried changing some values but when I tried hosting a server it didn't work.

It should work just like that, as long as the files are saved back into .pkg. Which values did you try to change?

I changed the cooldown of Shadowstep to 1.

You fail. Did you update the file? Did you run it in your own server? Did you have the right level step?

Yes I hosted my own server, and I changed all the lvls to 1 just in case. I use Winrar to change it and it works. I close the file down and reopen it and it shows that it has changed. I go to Prelude.pkg\data\skills\shadowblade and then change the shadowstep.xml file so it has 1 in cooldown.

Tricky... I hate asking people noobish questions so I'll just tell you how I edit those.

1. Open the .pkg with WinRAR
2. Find the wanted .xml file and double click it, thus opening it in IE
3. I open the sourcecode (into notepad) and edit the part I want
4. I save the notepad, at which point WinRAR notifies me that the file has been changed and asks if I want to add it to the archive. Click yes and after some processing I'm done Smiley

I think there's even a faster way to do this, and also you could just extract the file out into Dawnspire directory (with proper sub-directories) to avoid messing with .pkg (like the Master Server and Deathmatch patches are distributed).

I did like you did, except I open them with notepad directly from Winrar instead of going through IE. It shouldn't make a difference and I get the pop up window asking if I want to update it.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong with hosting the server? I register one on the DSP page and then just host it from the game.

Damn it not working for me  Cry

Well the only thing I can think of is that you have more than one DS installed on your computer (or several .pkg files atleast) and that you're editing the wrong one... Also try playing in the Practise and see whether the skill works there.

Okay now I got it working, what a silly thing that was wrong. I did ctrl c+v on the file and then I made the changes (in the one named prelude.pkg naturally). But when removed the one I had changed and renamed the one called "Copy of prelude.pgk" and changed that one it started working. Thanks for the help earlier Smiley

Can I just ask, these changes in cooldown time will you be able to play with people in a server you have not set up? Or are these changes limited to servers you start?

It only works if the one that hosts the server has changed the files. It doesn't work if you change them and join a normal server. Things like skill changes can't be used to cheat, but if I remember correctly you can change some files in the pkg like the colors of effects and other cosmetics although I'm not sure about that.

I think me and Waihirere once tryed that, even the graphics need to come from the host.
