Could this have any relation to the problems that were experienced on the forum and web yesterday?

You could always come back maybe it was a sign. Smiley

I didn't get an email like this... but I do remember seeing a person called "ForumTeam" under the newest member section.

In my line of work, I look into cases like this where people comit fraud and criminal activities on the internet (mainly distribution of viruses and spyware). A large number of cases are when people set up fake email accounts and/or websites and encourage people to input account details or download something they claim is virus or spyware protection - when infact it outsources to a trojan virus.

I suggest that the real Forum administrators ban the person's account (or delete it), Check the IP adress and registered e-mail and report it to the authorities.

And to those whom recieve this email: delete the message (prefably without opening it), and dont download or click on any links the email contains.

Hope this helps  Wink

Like a determinist would say: people making spreading viruses their cup of tea are the ones who have somehow come to know beforehand that they didn't get selected.

I've found that there are 3 likely reasons:

1) Financial Gain - getting people's account details etc
2) Personal Gain - like changing your grades or damaging the reputation of another company (through showing their security is rubbish)
3) Satisfaction - just being happy to know that you've managed to hack someone's security ... or to prove a point that you can do it
