I think, effectiveness, a HUGE part of it, is how quickly and completely you can switch between different energy modes.
For instance, in the military, we had one guy who springed from his bed, FOUNTAINED out of it into his combat-boots, and was off before the first snooze. We used to meet him halfway, when he was heading back from the diner, and we was going there.
He switched from sleeping, into fully active in a jiffey.
Sometimes, you feel like you wanna climb the walls and can't sit down (like someone says, "let's watch a movie!" - and you totally not feel like doing it) HIGH ENERGY
Then you watch the movie anyway, and 15 minutes later you can't even make yourself stand up, and fetch the remote control to turn the volume up. LOW ENERGY
And the fun thing is, if you MAKE yourself do that thing, if you MAKE yourself study, and you don't think about other things, but are really focused, it'll take you like 5 minutes to tune in to that energy level. BUT WE INHERENTLY DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE ENERGY LEVEL. We don't wanna change moods. We don't wanna be cheered up when we feel bad. We don't wanna be put down when we're up in the sky. etc etc
And this is frickin in your way, when you want to do something. Because if you want to do something, most often it means you are actually NOT doing it.To "Chill down" in front of the TV, spending like an hour changing your energy-vibe, that's one hour mindlessly lost, and chances are you'll just keep watching TV still.
I think, mastery of your emotions, and capability to consciously change your energylevels are absolutely fundamental in being effective, and a definite goal of mine (from this moment on). hmm

Didn't you just earlier say that everyone is seeking happiness? Doesn't that contradict with the fact that we don't want to be cheered up when we're down?
But to be honest, I'd rather be happy than sad but when I'm in a bad mood, I don't feel like cheering up and that makes me pity me which is just sad. And the more I pity me, the worse I feel.

If we could be happy when we're down, we wouldn't ever be down unless we feel like being sad. Guess sparr could write another few lines about being happy/sad if he hasn't done that earlier yet.

He's probably got lots of stuff in his secret blog. Wonder if he'd mind to share some of his knowledge with us...

Effectiveness is being able to say what you want without writing a wall of text each time.

Effectiveness could also be reading a wall of stuff in a short period of time. But don't worry, I understand if your brain capacity is limited. After all, we're just humans...

Well I guess everyone is seeking happiness, but in as short timeframe, and with as little effort, as possible. That means, NOT rising from the TV-coach and fetching the remote control is actually a momentary joy.
And momentary joy is also: not cheering yourself up when you're down. Because that takes effort. It takes a toll on you to change your emotions. You can change them in 15 seconds, but that's a DAUNTING task if you feel really down. But if you DO it, you can't imagine that you went around feeling all pissy like 20 seconds ago, and you were content feeling like a big depressive slug.
@Nightmare: I guess, but it's not effective either, if you aren't elaborate enough so that the readers get what you mean. For example, personally I think most math books give you a rule, explain in the most paper-saving way possible how they achieved the rule, and then give you a set of tasks to solve. After reading the intro, and looking at the tasks, most of the time I still go "What..?" because they didn't take the time, and effort to explain on a more amature-level than what THEY are on. They assume I am the math genius i WILL be -after I finished their mathbook- before I even start reading.
@Oyn, I like you too <3<3! (I also enjoy messing with you for some reason, but I guess I enjoy messing with anyone that I think can take it)

True, but I guess in that case it would be more about being lazy or ignorant than trying to be (over)effective.

I think he means that he believes you are not, originally from the planet earth, or rather, considering the fact that you MIGHT actually have lived here all your life, that you are NOT of the species homo-sapiens. Or if you ARE a homo-sapiens, you're so mentally and culturally different that it would justify officially creating a single species, just for you.
