I thought conversation was a bit on the slim side at the moment so I was wondering if anyone has bought or played Starcraft 2 and what they think of it?

From my point of view it's entertaining. One of the more entertaining games I've played in a while apart from Mass Effect 2 and Lead and Gold. Sadly for a game 12 years in the making it is some what of an anti climax. I have played through most of the mission types 1000 before. Graphics are behind the times. It feels more like a revamp of the original game than a new game that reportedly cost $100 million dollars to make.  Every RTS evolution that has been made in the last 12 years is ignored and we are back to the tank rush mentality of the late 90's. The story is bland, feels like it has been streched to fit 30 missions. Justifying splitting the game into 3 parts. Greed is the more likely answer. I hate the fact I must be online all the time to play single player games. Battle net 2 seem polished, though the multiplayer side holds no real interest to me.

In all a solid 83 out of 100.

Enjoyed it so far. The characters are good (not the gameplay units, but the characters you interact with) and personal, although like you said the game feels a bit stretched even at my early stage (mission 6 or something). Also the overall mood felt pretty good in the beginning, Raynor drinking booze, doing some killing and back to drinking booze again Tongue.

Btw about those missions, do I get to do all of them despite the order I choose them? Just wondering as I get to choose from a couple now and usually in RTS games it's one or the other but not both, but this time those missions seem to stick around...

And yeah on the 3rd mission I felt a bit cheated. Like wtf, I did this exact same mission 12 years ago Cheesy.

Can't comment on the online part as I have, *ahem*, problems with that... Also don't know about the RTS evolution as I've tank rushed in every freaking game since the original C&C Tongue.

The answer to your question is you will miss out on some of the missions. It's to fool you into thinking there is replay value in the game. Early on if you rescue the scientest you will lose out on a relic.
